TYLOO topped ESL One Cologne 2020 Asia with a 3-1 victory over ViCi on Vertigo (3-16), Inferno (16-2) and Mirage (16-13).
TYLOO have held an iron grip on the Asian region since returning to a full Chinese roster in April, defeating ViCi in all ten matches they have played gainst each other since then and making ESL One Cologne their fifth tournament title in a row. The ESL One Cologne final was the third best-of-five final that TYLOO were able to win against their domestic rivals, following victories at DreamHack Masters Spring and DreamHack Open Summer, all of which they started with a 1-0 lead due to reaching the grand final through the upper bracket.
Yi "JamYoung" Yang downed four players as ViCi snatched the first pistol round on the attacking side of Vertigo. It wasn’t until the seventh round, on an eco, that TYLOO got on the board thanks to four kills by HaoWen "somebody" Xu, although ViCi remained in control as JamYoung downed 22 enemies in a 12-3 half. After losing the second pistol round, TYLOO forced right up to try and stay alive, but a 1vs2 clutch by WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong all but sealed the deal for ViCi who won the map 16-3 and tied the series up 1-1.
TYLOO got off to a better start on Inferno, winning their CT-side pistol round and tearing through ViCi with YuanZhang "Attacker" Sheng and somebody at the helm, each with more than 100 ADR after the first seven rounds. It was in the eighth that the attackers were able to finally win off the back of a quad-kill by JamYoung, but TYLOO didn’t skip a beat as Zhenghao "DANK1NG" Lv took over with the AWP, helping his team to a 13-2 lead at the half with 18 kills. Showing the same dominance as ViCi in map one, TYLOO closed out Inferno 16-2 to regain the series lead, 2-1.
TYLOO won the first pistol round on Mirage, but ViCi turned the early stages of the map around immediately as JamYoung got three opening kills with a Famas in the second round. Zhuo "advent" Liang and company then took a hefty 5-1 lead, but once TYLOO found their groove on the attacking side they were able to bring it back to within one, 7-8, tying it up after the second pistol round. ViCi regained the lead by winning the forcebuy, but down 8-12 TYLOO won a crucial eco round to turn things around and win the map and series, 16-13, to claim the ESL One Cologne 2020 Asia title.
